At Good Gathering, we help educate kids at all grade levels. We bring people together at schools and libraries to discuss age-appropriate readings and facilitate conversations about evolution with young and older students. Take a look at a few examples of our work below!
Example: Elementary School Fossil Dig
In 2024, we received a microgrant from the American Anthropological Association to create a “fossil dig activity” for elementary schoolers. The students sifted through plastic bins of sand searching for “fossils” as we explained to them the importance of the archaeological process, and how it is used by real experts in order to make new discoveries about evolution.
Example: Elementary School Evolution Science Readings
We researched the best books to teach evolution to kids that are age appropriate by grade level. We have had many readings at schools and libraries in the Atlanta area.
Example: High School Seminar with Anthropology Experts
We arranged for leaders of the Anthropology Club at Georgia State University to lecture about their specialized studies in evolutionary, forensic and linguistic anthropology. They showed unique artifacts from the Atlanta area that were being used as part of their studies. It gave the audience a good understanding of key topics within the field of anthropology.
